Fifth Beer of Christmas 2019: Jolly Pumpkin Noel de Calabaza
On the Fifth Day of Christmas, my brewer gave to me... Jolly Pumpkin Noel de Calabaza!
Jolly Pumpkin Noel de Calabaza
The sour ale pioneers at Michigan’s Jolly Pumpkin put their own personal stamp on a classic Christmas-y style with Noel de Calabaza. They brew a Belgian dark strong ale, a style many Belgian brewers release as a holiday seasonal, and then put it in oak barrels for six months where it receives the signature Jolly Pumpkin mixed-fermentation treatment.
What emerges is a dazzlingly complex beer with richly layered malt and barrel character, some acidity and subtle funk, and notes of dark fruit and chocolate
The Beer
This Belgium dark strong ale offers the complex flavor malty, layered hops, and hints of fruit and spice. It's deep mahogany coloring gives you the perfect sophisticated companion for all times of good cheer.
The ABV is 9%.
Holidays in Historic Odessa
Step back in time at the Historic Odessa's annual holiday celebration - a seasonal tradition of interpreting scenes from classic literature. This season our celebration lasts through December 31, 2019.
This year's theme is based upon the classic novel, The Secret Garden, written by the English novelist and playwright Frances Hodgson Burnet. Be delighted with vignettes that include depictions of famous scenes from the novel in the Corbit Sharp House, c. 1774. Rejuvenate your spirit this Christmas by touring this memorable exhibition.
