Torpedo IPA vs Brutal IPA
Given the names, you'd expect this to be a pair of bitter belligerents looking to assault your taste buds. In fact, these finely-crafted brews owe more to invention than aggression. In one corner we have Sierra Nevada clutching its stainless steel "hop torpedo" device designed to efficiently dry-hop cooled beer (dry hopping uses kiln-dried hops to infuse extra flavor and aroma). In the other there's Rogue with its proprietary Pacman yeast and hops specially bred to impart maximum flavor. Both boast citrusy notes and bold hop aromas while steering clear of an overwhelmingly bitter barrage.
