Dog DaysVisitors to the Odessa Brewfest on Sept. 10 will notice something different over by the Wilson-Warner House. In the spirit of historical accuracy, Historic Odessa has installed a doghouse, because records show the family estate included two doghouses when it was sold in March 1829. It so happens that this part of the country is fond of its dog-themed beers. There’s the famous Dogfish Head brewery in Milton, Del., and the Flying Dog brewery in Maryland. New Jersey boasts Little Dog Brewing, and Stoudts Brewing Company in Adamstown, Pa. makes Fat Dog Imperial Oatmeal Stout. While pets are not allowed on the festival grounds, expect to encounter some of this dog-themed goodness at the Odessa Brewfest. You might even want to snap a picture of yourself drinking a brew in front of the little abode—just don’t try to climb in (seriously). Then you’d really be in the dog house! Beer, Food and FunThere’s plenty of fun things to do at the Odessa Brewfest on Sept. 10, from dancing to live music, to enjoying fine food, to watching a historical demonstration of beer brewing, to browsing artisan crafts and gifts—and of course, the over 50 regional and national beers to sample, as well as local wine and spirits.
