2015: Lagunitas vs Starr Hill
Today we feature two additional beers from our "west" region—though one is actually western Virginia. No matter! Petaluma, Calif., home of Lagunitas Brewing Co., and Crozet, Va., home of Starr Hill, have some things in commmon. Located in fertile valleys, both are historically farming communities. Both have had movies filmed there. Oh, and both brew awesome beer.
Lagunitas is well-known for its hoppy brews, from powerful Maximus ("IPA on steroids") to its Day Time "fractional" session IPA. For a less hoppy vibe there's a delicious Czech style pilsner and the most excellent Little Sumpin' ale.
Starr Hill makes Grateful pale ale, The Love wheat beer, Northern Lights IPA and other groovy brews. Their music-themed "all access" series includes Whiter Shade white IPA, King of Hop, Shakedown and Little Red Roostarr.
