Delaware Beers to be Featured at Odessa Brewfest
Delaware may be known for beaches, Brandywine estates and Blue Hens, but the First State is also a hotbed (or should we say ”hop-bed”) of brewing. Some of the finest beer in the world is brewed within its borders, but why road trip up and down the peninsula when the very best will be on offer at the Odessa Brewfest on Sept. 6.?
Here are some of the local breweries who will serving up samples at the brewfest:
Dogfish Head
The ales of Dogfish Head Brewery in Milton Del. are known around the world. Since 1995, Dogfish Head has been raising the brewer's bar with storied concoctions like its 60 Minute IPA, Raison D-Etre brown ale and Namaste Belgian-style white beer.
Twin Lakes Brewing Co.
What could be more Delawarian than Winterthur Wheat? How about Route 52 Pilsner? Ceasar Rodney Golden Ale? These are a few of the brews from Twin Lakes Brewing Co., located in Greenville. Twin Lakes wears its local pride on its sleeve, boasting of its Brandywine Valley connections and brewing beer with water drawn from an aquifer directly beneath its farm.
3rd Wave Brewing Co.
While not situated at the beach (though how far is anything in Delaware from the ocean, really?) it’s all about the beach lifestyle at 3rd Wave, which hails from Delmar. With beers like Big Reef, Sun Dancer and BonZai Black IPA, you’ll feel like grabbing a folding chair and heading for the dunes—but don’t go yet! There’s lots more beer to try!
16 Mile Brewery
From Georgetown, Del. comes 16 Mile Brewery, home of bold session ales like Responders Ale, Amber Sun and Old Court Ale. Located in a refurbished barn, the folks at 16 Mile see themselves as ambassadors of both Delaware and excellence in craft brewing.
Mispillion River Brewing
In 2011, Delawarean Eric Williams told his wife and co-founder Megan, “I am going to open a craft brewery in Milford!” Two years later, the two made the dream a reality, turning on the taps at Mispillion River Brewing. Named for the river that wends its way through town, Mispillion offers a tasty menu of year-round brews including Greenway IPA and Beach Bum Joe Belgian pale ale, as well as seasonals such as Extravagance Chocolate Cherry Imperial Stout.
The Odessa Brewfest brings over 35 craft breweries from around the country to beautiful Odessa, Del. on Sept. 6, as well as live music, food and vendors. For more infomation and to purchase tickets, go to OdessaBrewfest.Com.
