Odessa Brewfest a bit watered down but still fun

Rain didn’t cause craft beer enthusiasts to “tap out” Saturday at the fifth annual Odessa Brewfest which also featured food and live music at the benefit for the Historic Odessa Foundation.

Some visitors sported rain coats and hats or used umbrellas, but there was also shelter under a multitude of canopies and tents, as well as in the historic stone barn.

For most of the afternoon, the rain was just a light drizzle but it started falling much harder at about 3 p.m.

VIP tickets for exclusive tastings from noon to 2 p.m. were sold out, and then general admission tickets were available from 2-6 p.m.

The festival featured more than 50 local, regional and national craft breweries. Delaware’s growing craft brewery scene was well represented by 3rd Wave, 16 Mile, Bellefonte, Big Oyster, Blue Earl, Brick Works, Crooked Hammock, Dogfish Head, Fordham & Dominion, Midnight Oil, Mispillion, Revelation, Stitch House, Twin Lakes and Volunteer Brewing.

Live music featured reggae band Spokey Speaky, acoustic jazz and blues artist Bruce Anthony, versatile solo performer Tony Mowen and modern country band A Different Breed.

Food was on sale from Cantwell’s Tavern and the Roaming Raven Food Truck.
